Plasma cutting uses high-pressure gas intensely heated by an electrical arc, blown at the metal from a fine orifice at high-speed. High-pressure / high-temperature jet of gas instantaneously melts out a fine cutting line and is capable of removing metal at very high rate. Plasma has become the choice way to cut medium thickness steels due to its versatility of cutting different materials, edge quality often not requiring any secondary processing, and high cutting speeds.
